[q] do i need coding experience?

Absolutely not. In fact, many of our most successful students arrive having never written a single line of code. Our admission process is designed to test your logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and resilience, rather than your prior knowledge. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned hobbyist, as long as you are 18 or older, highly motivated, and ready to dive in, you have what it takes to succeed here.

[q] how do i learn without teachers?

You learn through our innovative peer-to-peer methodology. Instead of sitting through passive lectures, you immediately start building real-world projects. Once you finish a project, you must explain and defend your code to your peers. In turn, you will evaluate their work using structured grading scales. This constant exchange not only deepens your technical understanding but also builds crucial industry skills like code review, communication, and teamwork.

[q] how long does the programme take?

Since our program is entirely self-paced, the timeline depends completely on your dedication and schedule. On average, full-time students complete the foundational Core Curriculum in about 12 to 18 months, with the flexibility to stretch this up to 24 months. If you choose to complete the entire advanced program—which includes two mandatory internships and a deep-dive specialisation—you can expect to invest just over three years to reach a Master’s-level of expertise.

[q] is it really free?

Yes, it is completely free. There are no tuition fees, no hidden costs, and absolutely no financial obligations before, during, or after your studies. 42 Wolfsburg is a non-profit institution generously funded by major industry partners who are invested in growing the local tech talent pool. Crucially, you are never required or contracted to work for these partners after graduation. Your only financial responsibility is covering your own personal living expenses.

[q] do you offer support with visa and relocation?

While we would love to welcome digital talent from all over the world, we want to be completely transparent: because 42 Wolfsburg is an alternative educational institution and not a state-accredited university, we cannot provide legal assistance or official sponsorship for student visas. This can make the process highly challenging for non-EU applicants. If you are outside the EU, we recommend exploring other campuses within our global 42 Network that may better suit your visa requirements. Regarding relocation within Germany, we do provide assistance in finding local accommodation in Wolfsburg, subject to availability.
